Ask Needham’s Health Dept to Tell Gov Baker – No New Pipline’s
No New Pipelines!
The Massachusetts Association of Health Boards has circulated this letter to their members, asking local Boards of Health to sign the letter to Governor Baker calling on him to oppose new natural gas pipelines.
Please contact our Health Department and ask them to sign on!
The many reasons why these gas pipelines are bad for human health are detailed in the letter. These pipelines also harm our economy as we don’t make natural gas here, but send those dollars out of state.
Clean energy is not only good for our health and our planet, it is a boon for Massachusetts. In a few short years, we will be the US leader in offshore wind. Nationally, we are sixth in solar generation. Our 15,000 clean-energy jobs are only the beginning of what is possible here – unless we choose instead to subsidize out-of-state, fracked-gas and pipeline companies.
As front-line protectors of our natural spaces, local Boards of Health are perfectly placed to call on Governor Baker to say no to destructive and dangerous pipelines. Governor Baker cares what the Commonwealth’s 351 communities think.
Please help send him a strong message that our natural lands must be protected and cherished, not exploited.
- Send them an email or call them, saying “I am contacting you about the anti-pipeline letter that the Mass. Association of Health Boards sent to you. I urge you to sign it.”
- If they need the letter again feel free to send it to them yourself, or ask us to do it.
- If you get a response, please tell us at the SIERRA CLUB what they say.
