Protect the ACA – Contact Friends and Relatives in State with Republican Senators
PLEASE send the following information to Friends and Relatives in states with republican senators (especially if they live in ME, AK, AZ OH, TN , or WVU), and ask them to contact their senators immediately to voice their opposition to the Gaham-Cassidy bill, the latest ACA repeal bill being put forth by the GOP. The republicans only have until the end of September to use the reconciliation process to pass this bill. This process enables them to pass it with a mere 50 votes. Therefore, we need to help obtain 3 GOP no votes before this bill hits the Senate floor.
The following Republican Senators have been identified as our best hopes for the no votes:
Senator Collins: 202-224-2523 (ME loses $115 million in federal funding)
Senator Murkowski: 202-224-6665 (AK loses $255 million in federal funding)
Senator McCain: 202-224-2235 (AZ loses $1.6 billion in federal finding)
Senator Portman: 202-224-3353 (OH loses $2.5 billion in federal funding)
Senator Alexander: (202) 224-4944 (TN loses $1.6 billion in federal funding)
Senator Capito: (202) 224-6472 (WV loses $554 million in federal funding)
I want the Senator to oppose Graham-Cassidy bill. The bill is just like other TrumpCare bills in that it destroys Medicaid, as we know it by turning Medicaid into a capped system. This hurts children with disabilities, seniors, and even victims of natural disasters like Harvey and Irma. It takes away funding to help people afford health insurance through the marketplace. It destabilizes the individual health insurance marketplace. And it guts protections for people with pre-existing conditions. The Senate has wasted too much time on unpopular and failing repeal plans when the majority of Americans want the ACA repaired. And I would like to express my serious concern about Trump’s intention to let Obamacare fail and put the lives of millions of Americans at risk. I urge the Senator to immediately pass legislation to stabilize the insurance market and ensure the ACA’s cost-sharing subsidies are fully funded. The American people want to see the insurance market fixed, not sabotaged for political gain. Thank you.
DO YOU KNOW PEOPLE WHO LIVE IN NJ OR PA?
