Help Stop Gun Violence – House Concealed Carry Bill
Your U.S. Representative needs to hear from you now!!!
The House Judiciary Committee voted 19-11 in favor of the “Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act” this week. The bill is expected to advance quickly to the House floor, perhaps as early as next week. This bill would allow gun holders from states with no prerequisites for a concealed weapons license to take their guns into states with more strict licensing and carry laws.
In Utah, to obtain a “Concealed Firearm Permit,” you simply need to pass a criminal background check, but in New York City, for example, applicants for a gun permit must meet strict criteria. In some cases applicants are required to have interviews, fill out forms, submit affidavits and get fingerprinted, and the process can take up to eight months. Yet, if H.R. 38 passes, Utah residents would be able to carry guns in New York City.
This bill is a legislative priority for the gun lobby and the NRA is urging their five million members to call their representatives, so please contact your U.S. Representative now and request they oppose H.R. 38, the “Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act.”
Also, contact friends and family who live in red states and ask them to call their Representatives.

Hi, I’m [NAME], a constituent from [CITY, ZIP]. I’m concerned about the gun violence that kills 91 Americans every day. Can you tell me if the representative supports House Bill HR38?
Wow, that’s disappointing. This bill is an attempt by the gun lobby to gut our gun laws. It would force all 50 states to honor loose restrictions on concealed carry, potentially allowing stalkers, domestic abusers, and people with no safety training to carry hidden, loaded guns in public — even the legally blind. We can’t allow a special interest agenda to overrule common sense and the safety of American families. Please pass along my concerns and follow up with me if possible by [CONTACT INFO]. Thanks so much for taking my call!
That’s a relief! Please pass along my thanks to the representative and ask [HIM/HER] to do whatever it takes to make sure this bill doesn’t pass! Thanks for taking my call.
